CentriKid Yard Sale

The church wide yard sale that was held for the CentriKid Campers and chaperones was a wonderful event.  Thank you church family for all the donations of your “treasures”.  Thank you community for coming and buying these “treasures”.  Your involvement has enabled the campers and chaperones to raise much needed funds.

Law Enforcement Memorial Service

Trinity Baptist Church hosted the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service for the City of Apopka Police Department this year on Sunday, May 18th.  Officers from the City of Apopka, City of Orlando, City of Clermont, Seminole County, Orange County, and the Florida Highway Patrol were in attendance.  The Mayor of Apopka, Joe Kilsheimer presented a proclamation for the City and Captain Matt Gibbs led the congregation in the Law Enforcement Prayer.  The Presentation of Colors was led by Captain Randy Fernandez and the City of Apopka Police Color Guard.  The media presentation during the Trinity Baptist Church Choir and Orchestra singing of “It is Well with My Soul” was so touching, as it reminded us of those who have given their lives to protect and serve our communities.  Our guest speaker, Chief Manley spoke and Pastor Kevin Goza followed with a message.  A bagpipe rendition of “Amazing Grace” was performed during the presentation of the wreath in memory of those who have fallen.  A luncheon for the elected officials and all law enforcement in attendance was held immediately following the service.

Youth Memorial Golf Tournament 2014  By:  Teresa Stewart

When the Lord blesses you with a beautiful day…you play GOLF!  And, that is exactly what 70 men and women did at the Trinity Youth Memorial Golf Tournament held on April 26th at the beautiful Zellwood Station Golf Club!  Students and adult volunteers were on hand to assist our golf guests by loading their golf bags onto golf carts, providing water and snacks, and encouraging the golfers as they played.  The golfers had a great day…and, I heard the putting contest had some pretty tough competition!  Afterwards, everyone headed back to Trinity where the golfers were served a delicious meal of what is believed to be the best BBQ around.  Prizes were awarded to the best golfers of the day and for the putting contest, closest to the pin, and longest drive…not to mention the great door prizes for all.  From tee off to the final hole, fun was had by all!

Choose Second Students

“Ignite the Fire” Presentation

The students of the “Choose Second” ministry performed a heart warming program on Sunday night.  The program consisted of the students reenacting Biblical stories through movement accompanied by relevant current musical pieces. This worship experience blessed the hearts of those in attendance.  They will be performing a portion of the program during the Easter Sunday morning service.

Helping Hands Ministry  By:  Sharon Colley

A team of 18 men and women traveled to Wellswood Baptist Church in Tampa,  Florida on March 30th and spent the next four days hard at work painting the Sanctuary, Bride’s Room, Foyer, Sitting Room, Sr.  Adult Ladies  classroom, Nursery, two Preschool rooms, Pastor’s office, Secretary’s office, laying tile and Laminate flooring, tearing out paneling and hanging drywall, pressure washing buildings and sidewalks, trimming overgrown oak  trees, taking out large Palmetto Palms and replacing veneer bricks to the exterior of the church building. Completely renovated the nursery restroom including lowering the ceiling, installing a pedestal sink and building a step stool for the children to use.

How blessed we were to have the privilege to serve The Lord by assisting  Jay and Tina as they begin their Ministry at Wellswood Baptist Church. So often we travel to other states on Mission Trips helping others. This trip was close to home helping some people very close to our hearts as well as the Hispanic and Ethiopian churches that share the facility with their American Church family. We enjoyed eating supper each night from a different culture. Thank you Trinity for your support and prayers and  for allowing us to go .

Disaster Relief Team Aides Church in Tampa By:  Fran Carlton
During the first week of April, Trinity’s Disaster Relief Team and ‘friends’ went on a Good Will ‘mission’ trip to Tampa.  Wellswood Baptist Church, Pastored by our own Jay Kimbro, welcomed the team made up of hard working folks.

The team painted, put down new flooring, hung sheet rock, repaired exterior walls, cleaned up trees and grounds, pressure washed exterior, washed windows and more. It was a most rewarding experience. The fellowship enjoyed by the team members was “worth the trip”. Both among the team members and with the Kimbro’s and the members of Wellswood.

The church has three congregations: English, Spanish, and Etheopian. All with fine cooks who prepared dinner for the team each night.  It was an International delight! We went. We helped. We were Blessed!

Ladies Dazzle Weekend By: Carol Walker

There is nothing quite as touching as the sweet fellowship of 70 women of all ages getting together in fellowship and study of God’s word.  This was a brand new experience for many . . .  and for others, it would be a weekend they would never have considered missing.

Under the direction of Karen Goza, the emphasis of our weekend was “Friendships.”  For many of us, we expected to be “be-dazzled” with glitzy and shiny objects, but what we actually learned was very different.  A “dazzle” is a herd of zebras whose individual stripes work together as a camouflage to confuse their predators and protect their group.

Highlights of the weekend included our study of the sweet stories of friendship between Mary and Elizabeth, and Ruth and Naomi.  Warm testimonies were shared by Alice Neiswanger and Brenda Wilcox; a wonderful variety of music was led by Suzanne Adcock and Lisa Chisholm; and wonderful food (including plenty of chocolate) was prepared and served by Cammie Evans and her mother, Cavelle Pawlack.  This writer will always cherish the warm memory of our ladies joyously singing together “Lean on Me,” and without any prompting, encircling the room hand-in-hand, as true sisters in Christ.

Acquire the Fire – Tampa  By:  Pastor Mike Ballard

The “Choose Second” Youth Ministry took a group of 35 students and adults to the Acquire the Fire “Epic Truth” event in Tampa on Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th. It was an amazing experience for all of us. Hearts and lives where drawn closer to The Lord and we had some incredible worship times with almost 4,000 students lifting their voices in praise. My only regret is we didn’t take more with us. Until next time…. Seek Wisdom, Speak Truth, and Share Love.

Speaking the Truth of Life to teens and young adults. James 5:16.
